Children who are toe walking have an active tendon guard reflex.  They are in a constant state of stress (fight or flight) and their bodies are prepared to flee, thus in a constant forward position.  The backs of their bodies are tight from the neck down to their feet.  Watch the video below to see some of the reflexes involved in toe walking and which exercises can help to integrate these reflexes.
